Scout Award Dinner

There will be an awards dinner for adult scout leaders on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Castle Dale Stake Center. All scout leaders and their spouses are welcome to attend. Bring a potluck item for the dinner.

Castle Dale Rabies clinic

Castle Dale City will hold a rabies clinic Jan. 17 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Castle Dale Fire Station. The deadline for licensing dogs is March 1. Licenses may also be obtained at the clinic.

Valentine Carnival

The 14th annual Huntington Elementary PTA Valentine Carnival will be held on Feb. 13 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Huntington Elementary gym. Tickets will be 10 for $1. There will be food, games and fun. There will be a craft sale and bake sale. Games will include: fish pond, cake walk, RJ the Clown, football toss, coin toss, pop game, face painting, treasure hunt, fortune teller and much more. Everyone welcome.

Huntington City Dog Licenses

The Huntington City 2009 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall or at the rabies clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on the following dates: Jan 24: 9:30 a.m-noon (Brett Griggs D.V.M.), Feb. 21: 10 a.m.-noon (Glen Jensen D.V.M.).

Li'l Abner Canceled

Due to circumstances beyond our control Emery County Community Theater will not be presenting Li'l Abner this season.

Volunteers of America Utah, RSVP and FGP sponsor Food Drive

Volunteers of America Utah, RSVP and FGP are sponsoring a food drive to celebrate Martin Luther King Day and Presidents Day. They will be gathering food to refill the Emery County Food Bank. Everyone is encouraged to donate anything they possibly can to help the people of Emery County. Bring your donations to the RSVP Office, 25 West Main Castle Dale, Tuesday thru Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. We will collect food until Jan. 18. For more information call Betty or Gerry at 381-2765.

CEU Announces Fifth Annual High School Art Competition

The fifth annual high school art competition will be held in Gallery East on the College of Eastern Utah campus in Price from Jan. 7-24. All artists of high school age (14-18 years old) are welcome to participate, including public high school students, home-schooled students and students attending private schools. They need not be enrolled in an art class to participate. An artist reception will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Jan. 16. Awards will be announced at the reception. OHV Land Use Rally at State Capitol

The OHV Land Use Rally will be held at the Utah State Capitol on Feb. 6, between 12 noon and 1 p.m. The time is subject to change so watch for updates as the time gets closer. Emery County 4-H Family Photos

Feb. 13, 14, and 15 at the Emery County Courhouse upstairs, 75 Main Street Castle Dale, $10 for 16 x 20 (other sizes available). This is a great 4-H fundraiser, please support 4-H. Orangeville Rabies and License Clinics

Orangeville rabies and license clinic will be held Feb. 21 at the fire station from 10 a.m. to noon. All dogs need to be licensed in the city, house dogs and outside dogs. The deadline for licensing is March 1.

Contest Invites Would-be Authors

Local author and parenting expert Wendy Green is working on a book aimed at helping parents teach their children about money, life and success. She is welcoming local authors to submit their own stories for potential publication in her book. All stories will be considered for inclusion with an award of $100 for the best story.
