Eight Spartan wrestlers advance to state meet.

The southern Utah super-regional wrestling tournament was held last week at Juan Diego High School and eight Emery Spartans advanced out of the tournament to wrestle this week at the state tournament at Utah Valley University.

Regions 8 and 9 sent 10 teams to the tournament and now eight wrestlers in each weight group will advance from this super-regional plus the other tournament that was held for regions 10 and 11.

Spencer Fehlberg at 103 pounds finished first in region 8 and second overall in the super-regional. Caleb Jones, at 285 pounds, and Jace Guymon, at 145 pounds, each finished fourth at the tournament and are now in good position to do well in the state meet.

Also advancing to the state tournament are Clay Collard at 135 pounds, Haden Hatch at 140 pounds, Jake Gardner at 160 pounds, Drew Bohn at 215 pounds and Nathan Mecham at 160 pounds.

The meet will start at 11 a.m. this Thursday at UVU in Orem.
