The Emery County Headstart held their annual parent recognition and appreciation dinner recently at the Huntington Headstart facility. The event was centered around a Western theme. When the parents arrived they filled out their name tags taking on a Western identity for the evening. They also were given bandanas to tie around their necks or put on their heads as they chose. The parents filled out survey's pertaining to Headstart and answered questions. The parents were treated to a Western dinner prepared by Alli Allen in the kitchen with helpers Madi Hendrickson and Brooklyn Fish. Western pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans and cow pie cookies rounded out the menu.
After dinner the participants were awarded their recognition certificates. They had their pictures taken with the Western backdrop and played bingo for a variety of prizes. All attending received a gift to take home. There are currently 38 students enrolled in Headstart. The students are served two hot meals each day and learn a variety of subjects as well as have fun. Students in Headstart are 3-5 years of age.
