The 2009 high school track season will culminate this Friday and Saturday at the BYU track facility, as all five classifications will travel to Provo to determine this season's champions. Three athletes in the meet will represent Emery High School. Sue Greenburg will be throwing the shot put, Cort Jensen will be running the 1600 meter race and Jake Gardner will be running the 300 intermediate hurdles. The region meet was held last week at Salem Hills High School and the girl's winner was North Sanpete and the boy's winner was Delta.

The Green River Pirate track team consisting of four girls ventured on down to Moab to compete in the region 19 regional track meet. With four girls, the Pirates came away with a third place finish out of five teams. Lindsey Spadafora, Kari Mayall, Sarah Swalberg and Megan Hatt all competed and did well. Megan took first place in the long jump with a leap of 15' 11"; took second in the high jump with a jump of 4' 8"; and took first in the 100M and 200M runs. Sarah took first in the javelin with a throw of 120' 9" and in the shot put with a throw of 31' 2".
