Ferron Youth Council Movie in the Park
Ferron Youth Council will be sponsoring a movie in the park June 19 at Mayor's Park. The movie will begin at dusk. This will be a great family activity. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Students will be selling cotton candy, snow cones and pop for $1. Details: Andrea 384-2632
Business Workshop for SBA loans
On June 17 at 8 a.m. in the county building there will be commercial lenders from Zions Bank and Robert Edminster from the CDC for SBA 504 loans. There will be presentations on each kind of SBA loan and then there will be break-out sessions so that the business owners have one-on-one time with a lender to get help with the application. There will also be a continental breakfast served.
Search and Rescue Marathon Road Closure
The Mohrland Road will be closed Saturday, June 20 from 5:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. for the Second Annual Search and Rescue Marathon. Contact the Sheriff's Office for more information or assistance.

Junior Miss Emery Pageant
All young ladies ages 6 - 9 living in Emery County are invited to participate in The Little Miss Emery Pageant being held on Aug. 6, at 6 pm in the Fair Tent. She will ride in parades with Miss Emery and attend the Miss Utah tea. She will win a $400 packet which includes a dress, Miss Utah T-shirt and other prizes.

Vacation Bible School
All ye buccaneers are welcome to join us for a week long voyage that promises adventure, surprise, grub and loot for each mate. Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church of Ferron will be held on June 1-5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be puppets, crafts, snacks, Bible stories, games and more fun. Any buccaneer from ages 4-12 is welcome. Come join the fun.

The Emery County American Cancer Society Relay for Life
has been moved to Canyon View Jr. High. It will be on June 12 & 13 at 6 p.m. It's never too soon to register for Relay 2009. Plan to help us celebrate Relay's 25th Anniversary.This year's theme is "Kool for a Kure." The Relay event starts with a kick-off dinner at 6 p.m. and ends with a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning. Former Senator Jake Garn will be the key note speaker. Also speaking will be Heather Anderson the former Miss Utah 2007 and Hilary Gordon the Mayor of Huntington. The Ms. Relay competition; males competing for the crown, will be back again this year. The Relay for Life is a fun-filled, overnight, event that empowers everyone to help fight cancer by raising money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission. Food Handler's Classes
There will be food handler's classes for all persons working in restaurants, bars, nursing homes, school cafeterias, convenience stores or deli's. Classes will be taught in Price, on June 16 at 9 a.m. and 4 and 7 p.m., 28 South 100 East in Castle Dale, on June 17 at 4 and 7 p.m., 25 West Main Street.The classes are two hours in length and the cost is $10 to take the test. Free Resource Makes Applying for Student Financial Aid Easier
Self-guided presentation walks students through the sometimes-confusing financial aid application process. The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority is very pleased to announce "Navigating the FAFSA," a much-needed new resource to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly called the "FAFSA"). This tool is a self-directed presentation that guides students through topics explaining the purpose of the FAFSA, how to obtain a PIN to sign their FAFSA securely online, what information should be gathered, how to complete the FAFSA, and how to submit it. Easily found on the front page of the UHEAA website, this presentation gives high school counselors and financial aid professionals another tool to help their students. Health Care Camp
High School students interested in a future health care career are welcome to participate in the Health Career Exploration Camp at Southern Utah University. The camp will take place June 8 - 10 and is open to all 9th - 12th grade high school students. Cost for the camp is $70, which includes housing during the camp at The Eccles Living Learning Center, meals, workshop supplies and a camp t-shirt. Scholarships are available to waive the cost of camp for individuals who qualify based on household income. Transportation to and from Southern Utah University is up to the individual attendee. The Health Career Exploration Camp is sponsored by the Southern Utah University Center for Rural Health.
