A Castle Country Christmas

"A Castle Country Christmas," featuring the choirs and bands from Carbon and Emery county schools, will be available for purchase Dec. 21 after 9am.

The CD will be available in Price at the Eagles Nest, 8 East Main; Breinholt Music, 67 East Main; and in Huntington at Earl's Furniture and Appliance, 390 North Main.

Profits from the CD sales will benefit the music departments of the participating schools.

Be listening to KUSA 100.1 the Eagle on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. and Christmas day at 9 a.m. to hear "A Castle Country Christmas."

Ladies Volleyball

Buckhorn Archery Club Winter League

Yes it's that time again for winter league to start. If you have a bow and arrows, come and join the fun. It will get you out of the house and off the couch for some fun once a week. You will also get in shooting shape for the archery hunt. It's something the entire family can do together, plus it's a fun time.

The league will start on , Jan. 6, 2010. The first night will be a signup night starting at 3:30 p.m., and we will also shoot for fun and you can sight in also. If you can't make it that night you can join all season long. We shoot every Wednesday night.

We are starting a traditional category so if you have a long or recurve bow and want to join in the fun come give it a try.

Registration is still $20 a single or $30 a family. You must purchase insurance at a cost of $7 a year. The weekly fee is $7 a night. If you are helping any shooter, you have to purchase the insurance even if you're not shooting. No exceptions. Everyone participating must have insurance.

If you are a person 18 or younger and are still in high school, it is free for you to shoot each week. You still have to pay registration and insurance.

If you have a child, and would like them to get involved come and talk with us. Archery helps kids build confidence in themselves.

We will have at least one indoor 3-D shoot during the season, as well as our annual shoot up Huntington Canyon in the spring. If you're a dedicated hunter you can get some hours by helping the club throughout the season. (Talk to Randy).

Mass at the Mission

The Mission of the San Rafael will hold its Christmas Eve mass at 9 p.m. on Dec. 24. Everyone welcome.

Emery County's Third Annual Free Family Night

Family Night is an evening dedicated to your family, full of information booths with free items, activities and free dinner.

Rocky Mountain School of Baseball

The Rocky Mountain School of Baseball will hold its 16th Annual Winter Ball Camp on Jan. 16, 17, and 18, 2010 in Mesquite Nev. The camp is for individual players or teams from 7-18, who will be divided into age groups. The camp staff will include professional and college coaches and players. The RMSB will hold its annual Holiday Hitting and Pitching Camp on Dec. 28 & 29 in Lindon at Ultimate Sports. Hunter Education Course

A hunter education course will be held Jan. 4, 5, 7, and 8, 2010 at the Emery County Recreation Center. Class will be from 5-8 p.m. each day. Fee for the class is $10. You must pre-register by Dec. 30. Sign up early, there is a class size limit.

Participants will be required to obtain a voucher at a licensed vendor for th Utah Division of Wildlife Resources prior to registering for the class.

Orangeville City Rabies and Licensing Clinic

Orangeville City rabies and licensing clinic will be held on Jan. 16, 2010 and Feb. 27, 2010 at the New Fire Station 10 a.m. to 12 noon. 2010 Dog tags are avaiable at the City Hall, please bring in your rabies information when licensing your dog. $8 for altered dogs and $25 for unaltered dog. All dogs need to be licensed in the city, house dogs and outside dogs by March 1.

Cal Ripkin and Babe Ruth Baseball Elections

Cal Ripkin and Babe Ruth Baseball elections will be held Jan. 18 at the Emery County Recreation Center at 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in running for the office of president, vice president or treasurer, please contact Emery County Recreation at 381-2108.

Fourth Annual Scofield Rainbow Trout Ice Fishing Tournament

Jan. 2, at Scofield Madsen Bay Boat Ramp. Check in will be from 7-7:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Your entry fee will be collected at this time. Registration: You can pre-register for the event during the month of December by calling 435-687-2491 to get on the list. Entry Fee: $15 per Adult or $10 for 16 and under. Tournament times: Jan 2, 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Weigh-in time: 2-2:30 p.m .Awards: will be awarded following the weigh in. Awards will be gift certificates to Sportsman's Warehouse.

First place $300, second place $200, third place $150, fourth place 100, and fifth place $50.

There will be a drawing following the awards worth more than $200 in prizes.

Tournament limit: 200 participants-hurry and sign up to avoid the waiting list.

Defensive Driving Classes Now Available

The Utah Safety Council is now offering a four-hour defensive driving course for individuals in the Price area. The course will take place on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Castleview Hospital Classroom located at 300 N. Hospital Drive, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The four-hour course consists of classroom instruction and focuses on accident prevention, driving confidence, awareness of hazards and improving driving skills.

Drivers may complete the course for a 50-point reduction from their Utah driving record, once every three years. Individuals 55 years of age and older, may qualify for insurance discounts after completing the course.

Angel tree

Cleveland town will be accepting names for the angel tree this holiday season. If you know of a needy family or individual in our town, please submit their name, age and gender to the town office. Angels will be available at the town office after December 1st. The date to return your wrapped gift to the town office is December 19th. Forest Service Begins Christmas Tree Sales

Christmas tree permits will go on sale Nov. 23 at the Ferron District Office and Price Supervisor's Office of the Manti-La Sal National Forest. Permits will cost $10 and can be purchased during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Ferron and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Price.

In addition, the Price office will open two Saturdays, Nov. 28 and Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Christmas tree tag sales.

Customers should come prepared to pay with correct change or a check. The Forest Service cannot accept credit or debit cards, or make change.

The Forest officer selling tags will issue each purchaser cutting instructions. Customers traveling long distances for permits should call in advance to determine if permits are still available. Vehicle access, except for snow machines, must be confined to established roads on the Forest. Roads may be muddy, snow packed and slick. Be prepared for winter driving conditions.

Orangeville Youth City Council

Youth City Council has a new advisor, Carmen Humphrey. The council is open to youth in Orangeville 7 through 12 grades.

Utah State History announces the 2010 Utah Prehistory Week Poster Contest. The winning poster will be professionally printed anddistributed nationwide to promote Utah's unique past. Every year during the first full week of May, Prehistory Week celebrates Utah's rich archaeological, paleontological, and cultural resources. Events all over the state include lectures, programs, activities, demonstrations, and tours.

The poster contest is open to all ages. Entrants may choose any material, design, or medium, but the principal elements of the design should depict aspects of Utah archaeology, and entries should be less than 16" wide and 24" long. Winners in three categories will receive cash prizes: grand prize winner: $250; secondary school winner: $100; elementary school winner: $100.

Posters should be submitted no later than January 7, 2010, to:
