PRICE-Surrounded by his family, our beloved dad and grandpa, Arthur Manzanares, passed away peacefully at his home in Price on March 20, 2010 due to complications from a stroke that he suffered last June. Art was born on Oct. 19, 1930 in Monticello, Utah to Cleofes Archuletta and Bill Guiermo Manzanares.

While in Monticello, he married Florence Torres, on Sept. 24, 1949. They had seven children together, Billy, Leroy, Steven, Michael, Kenneth, Julie, and Christina.

In the late 1960s Art moved to Moab where he had many wonderful friends. In 2001 Art moved to Price, Utah. We are forever thankful for his decision to move close to us, and very grateful for the bonds and joyful memories that followed.

Art loved the great outdoors, watching the Jazz games and especially fishing with his kids and grandkids. He was a uranium coal miner, construction worker, and also liked working as an extra in the many movies that were filmed in the great valley of Moab. Art had a great sense of humor, and was always a lot of fun to be around. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sons Bill (Monene) of South Jordan, Utah; Lee (Priscilla); Steven (Joann); Michael; Kenneth; daughter Christina Herrera (Benny); all of Price, Utah; daughter Julie Manzanares of Logan, Utah; and stepson Johnny Salazar of Payson, Utah; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews.Art is preceded in death by his parents, brother Susano; sisters, Pomasena Gallegos, Sylvia Nieves, Lena Maestas, Lucille Garcia, and Anna Razo.

Funeral Mass, Thursday, March 25, 2010, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Wednesday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. Friends are welcome to share online memories of Art at>

A special thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice nurses Melissa, Kourtney and Deborah. The family would also like to thank critical nurse staffing, nurse Michelle, and a very very special thanks to Joann Manzanares, Christina Herrera, Johnny Salazar, Nickolas Bencomo and Maylynn Young for their commitment in caring for Dad.
