Two races were decided with a primary election. In the United States House of Representatives incumbent Rep. Jim Matheson retained his right to run in the November election. He received 239 of Emery County votes to 38 votes for Claudia Wright.
In the United States senate race, Mike Lee received 374 votes to Tim Bridgewater's 291 votes in Emery County. Mike Lee went on to win state wide with a 51-49 percent edge over Bridgewater.
