Bookcliff Muzzleloaders club hosted their annual meat shoot on Dec. 7 at the Pinnacle Peak shooting range in Price. The event drew shooters from around the state as they participated in the shooting of blackpowder guns at 15 different targets. The prizes were all food products with a first, second and third being given away on each target. Many shooters took home the turkeys and hams as the shooting continued through the day. Also food was hung on strings and the shooters tried their luck at breaking the string with a round ball to drop the food which became their prize. The string shoot was a popular spot for shooters between targets. The club treated all shooters to Sam's famous hot chili at the lunch break. The president of the Bookcliff Muzzleloaders is Andy Schmidt with Kim Hansen serving as range master. The club meets monthly at the Price range for friendly competition with blackpowder guns. An added attraction at the shoot was the firing of the cannon at targets on a nearby hillside.
