The Emery High Lady Spartans finished fourth in region 12 volleyball action this season and will now advance to play in this year's 3-A State tournament. Last week, Emery played Richfield and North Sanpete at home and came up each time with a loss.

Richfield and Delta split their matches this season and were co-region champions. Each team finished region play with a 9-1 record. Richfield finished ranked second in the Salt Lake newspapers and Delta finished being ranked third. Richfield won the coin flip and will take the first place region seed into the state tournament.

North Sanpete, last season's state champion, finished third in region play and Manti and Juab finished tied for fifth in the region and will have a play-in game to decide who gets to face Morgan, the number one ranked team, in the first round.

Emery will face region 10 winner Wasatch in the first round. That match will start at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at Utah Valley University in the UCUU Center on court 3. The winner of that match will play at 3:30 p.m. on the same court and the loser of that first match will play at 5:30 p.m. in the activity center on court 2.

Richfield will start the tournament with a match against Park City. Park City was the fourth place finisher in region 10. Delta will start against Union High, the third place finisher in region 10. North Sanpete opens against Carbon High, the second place region 10 team.
