American Legion Baseball Helper American Legion baseball team will be Monday May 19th at 7 p.m. at the legion park in Helper. A player born on or after January 1, 1995 is eligible. A player born on or after January 1, 2002 is not. Therefore you may have a 19 year old who is eligible but you must also be at least 14 years old to play. If anyone has any questions on eligibility or anything they can contact me at 435-820-8379. With a good group of returning players from last year's State Championship team I feel this year can be another very successful season. Team registration and insurance must be paid by Thursday May 15. Our annual Helper American Legion Tournament will be June 19 thru the 22 in Helper.

Retirement Carol Ann Stream will be retiring after her graduation program May 15th. She has been such an inspirational and amazing teacher to soo many, and has loved every single child she has taught. John Wesley Powell Museum Thursday, May 8th, 7 -8:30 p.m. Sponsored by the National Resources Conservation Service and John Wesley Powell Museum. Admission is free. The presentation will cover the history and importance of the Tusher Diversion and the Hastings Ranch in the development of the Green River agricultural industry. As part of that meeting, NRCS and the John Wesley Powell museum is inviting the public to bring photos, articles, journal entries, and/or anecdotes about the Tusher Diversion so that its history can be better understood and appreciated. DEFENSIVE DRIVING CLASSES NOW AVAILABLE The Utah Safety Council is now offering a four-hour defensive driving course for individuals in the Price area. The course will take place on Saturday, May 31 at the Castleview Hospital Classroom located at 300 N. Hospital Drive, from 8 a.m. to noon. Registration is $40 per person, or $10 for those age 55 and over that are only seeking a reduction in their insurance rate. Free summer meals for children 18 and under Emery School District is sponsoring a summer lunch program for children. The sites and serving times will be, Castle Dale Elementary Cafeteria, 195 E. 600 N. from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Ferron Elementary Cafeteria, 100 West Mill Rd. from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Huntington Elementary Cafeteria, 70 E. 1st. N. from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Book Cliff Elementary Cafeteria, 205 S. Solomon St. from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

All sites will operate beginning June 2 and feed children Monday through Friday until July 23, except July 4th. Meals to children are free. Adults who accompany children to the sites will have their meal fee waved. When all children have been served, other adults may purchase a remaining meal for $3.50 cash only. Adults are not allowed to eat off the child's tray by Federal law. Meal service will be 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at all four sites; no meals can be served outside of our time frame, no meals can leave the site. Children should clean up after themselves and follow the adult supervisor's directions. Funding for this program is provided by the US Dept. of Agriculture from Import taxes on foods from other countries. No other activities, such as day care or other child supervision, will be available at the feeding locations.
