EAST CARBON - Our loving mother and grandmother of five generations, Dorothy Lake Christensen, age 98, passed away Aug. 20, 2011 at home while surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 2, 1913 in Castle Dale to Robert and Lily Claudina Coates Lake.

Married Alma Ferron Christensen, Sept. 29, 1934 in Castle Dale; their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on July 22, 1938. Alma preceded her in death on March 1, 1999.

Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was active in many callings. She dedicated her life to the service of others and was happiest when she was caring for them. Dorothy was an excellent artist and seamstress whose beautiful quilts decorated the homes of many. She loved to go camping, attend the Senior Center, and taking "special trips" with her family.

Survived by four daughters and four sons, Barbara (Sam) Leek, Scofield; Shirley (Glenn) Brady, Price; Sondra Bills, East Carbon; Don (Joyce) Christensen, East Carbon; Bernell (Georgeanne) Christensen, Magna; Darwin (Elna) Christensen, East Carbon; Joyce (Mike) Wekluk, West Valley; Jerry (Sandy) Christensen, Rock Springs, Wyo; 33 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughters, Betty and Louise; grandson, Ricky Glen Brady; granddaughters, Vickie Ann Humphreys and Tammy Christensen; great-grandson, Matthew Humphreys; and her 11 brothers and sisters.

Funeral service, Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, 11 a.m., Helper LDS Stake Center, (150 Ridgeway) Helper. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 E. Main Street) in Price Thursday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. and at the church in Helper Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Castle Dale City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Dorothy at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
