Graduation night on May 24 for EHS and GRHS

Emery High and Green River High will hold graduation ceremonies on May 24 at 7 p.m. The EHS graduation will be held in the Emery High Auditorium and the Green River High graduation will be held in the Green River High auditorium. The honor students at Emery High are Caleb Woolsey, Valedictorian; Eli Oliverson-Salutatorian and Whitney Roper, Adrienne Carter, Tiffany Funk and Marqui Moss as honor students. Each of these students will speak at the graduation ceremony.

Caleb Woolsey is the mathematics Sterling Scholar. He has been Outstanding Math Student for the past three years. He maintains a 4.0 GPA and scored a 34 on the math portion of the ACT and a 33 composite score. He was the top AP Calculus student last year and scored a 5 on the AP test. This year he is doing an internship with theMath Department, and has taught and tutored several kids in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. He is President of the Honor Society and Vice-President on the student council. He has been a member of seminary council, marching and pep band, and the First Assistant to the Bishop for his ward. He participates in track and cross-country and received Academic All-State for cross-country. Caleb is the son of Darren and Jeanette Woolsey.

Eli Oliverson is the 17 year old son of Clay and Tammy Oliverson of Castle Dale. He maintains a 4.0 grade point average. Eli is a member of Emery High's cross-country and swim teams. Eli's academic interests are math and science. He enjoys hunting, fishing, trapping, and swimming. After graduation Eli plans on attending Southern Utah University, serving a mission for his church, and become a dentist.

Whitney Roper was runner-up in the Family and Consumer Science Sterling Scholar. She is FCCLA President and National Honor Society Vice President. She is a member of Governing Youth Council, and FBLA. She maintains a 4.0 GPA along with an overall composite score of 29 on the ACT. She has participated in volleyball, basketball, cross country, and softball. She is a tutor in English, math, and science. She is the reigning Miss Peach Days. She is very involved in her school and community. She is the daughter of Shon and Stephanie Roper of Ferron.

Marqui Moss was the winner in the social science category for the Sterling Scholars. She is the Student Body President at Emery High. She enjoys this opportunity to lead, organize and delegate. She has also served as sophomore class president and Jr. Class Vice- President. She is a member of the tennis and speech and debate teams. She participates in theater, the MESS, and GYC. She is a four-year member of the Honor Society. Her hobbies include riding horses and playing the piano. The best week of her life was spent at Freedom Academy and she hopes to travel the world. Moss is the daughter of Lee and Staci Moss.

Adrienne Carter was the winner in the speech and drama category for the Sterling Scholars. She is president of the drama club and president of the speech and debate club. She is a public forum debater. She is editor in chief of the Spartan Shield. She is the Utah state American Legion Auxiliary Junior Chaplain, and will return to the American Legion Auxiliary-sponsored Girls' State this summer to serve as Attorney General. She is an avid reader, writer, and baseball fan. She is the daughter of Rod and Diane Carter.

Tiffany Funk is the 17 year old daughter of Greg and Jessica Funk of Clawson. She is on Emery High's cross-country team. Tiffany's academic interest is art. She enjoys making jewelry, painting, taking naps, and playing with her little sister. She plans on moving to Logan, getting a job, and attending Utah State University in the fall.
