Almost Maine tales of love won and lost

Mariah Behling and Mark DeBry play the parys of Gayle and Lendall.
Madelyn Carter and Colton Timothy play the parts of Pete and Ginette.

The Emery High Theatre Department presented the non-musical play, ALMOST, MAINE on Feb. 13, 14, 18, and 20, in the Spartan Center Little Theatre.

ALMOST MAINE takes place in an unincorporated section of northern Maine that is not quite but "almost" a town, thus the name. The play is a series of scenes that all take place in the "town" at 9 p.m. on a February night.

Though the scenes come one at a time, they are all - in theory - happening at the same time. The play features 16 students in eight scenes and is a comedy, a farce, and a drama all at the same time. It is in fact, a relationship play that examines the entire range of human emotions.

Almost, Maine is a play by John Cariani, comprising nine short plays that explore love and loss. It premiered at the Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine in 2004 where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim.
