PUBLIC NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY
February 2014
Draft Environmental Assessment Of
FACILITY DEMOLITION, GREEN RIVER TEST SITE, UTAH

The Green River Test Site (GRTS), also known as the Green River
Launch Complex, covers about 3,500 acres and is located in
east-central Utah, about 150 miles southeast of Salt Lake City, near
the city of Green River and about 70 miles west of the Utah-Colorado
border. This Environmental Assessment (EA) addresses potential issues
and concerns associated with the proposed demolition.

The U.S. Army is undertaking a Nation-wide effort to demolish old and
obsolete facilities, as directed by Congress. GRTS is managed by White
Sands Missile Range (WSMR), in New Mexico, which is participating in
this program. GRTS is a Cold War-era missile launch test facility
with about 37 buildings remaining, and all are proposed for
demolition.

An Environmental Assessment was completed to determine whether any
activities associated with demolition would have the potential for
impacts to the environment. The initial results of the Draft
Environmental Assessment found no significant impact from the
anticipated activities associated with the proposed demolition.

The Final Environmental Assessment is scheduled for completion on or
before April 2014. The draft environmental assessment is available to
the public at the following Information Repositories:
