|Camille Fehlberg, ninth grader from Canyon View Junior High does well at the state track meet. She was second in the 300 meter hurdles and fifth in the 110 meter hurdles.|
At BYU's track stadium, the high school track season came to a halt with the Judge Memorial Bulldogs claiming both the boy's and the girl's titles. The Emery Spartans finished ninth in the boy's and 16th in the girl's.
Judge should have their water tested for their domination of the boy's meet. They took first in the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 400 relay, 1600 relay and the 1600 medley relay. Judge so dominated the meet that their team score would have beat the next three teams added together.
Bruce Clements, an Emery junior, finished first in the discus with a throw of 152'5". Bruce made his parents and coaches, and us other fans too, hold our breath as his first two throws were non-qualifiers and they only get three. Zeke Atwood finished seventh in the discus with a throw of 130'0". Bruce also finished seventh in the javelin with a throw of 149'0".
Cory Montgomery was the only other Spartan to finish in the top eight in an event. Cory finished fourth in the long jump with a jump of 20'7" and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.82 seconds.
Camille Fehlberg was the lone Spartan that put points on the board. Camille finished second in the 300-meter hurdles and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles. In the 300 hurdles, Camille hit the last hurdle to lose her lead and lose by .3 of a second. She had had the best qualifying time the day before. Camille is just a freshman at Canyon View Jr High in Huntington.
The other Region 8 schools finished this way. For the girls, Delta was fifth, Carbon 14th, Lehi 15th and North Sanpete 19th. For the boys, North Sanpete was fifth, Delta 10th, Carbon 17th and Lehi 18th.
