The Emery Chapter of the FFA is currently preparing for the Southeastern Utah Junior Livestock Show which will be held on July 6-9 in Ferron. Corinne Dalton is the chapter advisor and she appreciates the support of the community for the stockshow. Dalton believes that promoting agriculture education through FFA and 4-H is a worthy cause.
With a past rooted in the values of American Agriculture and an eye on the future of an ever-changing world, FFA has become one of the largest and most diverse student groups today.
The youth are looking forward to the stockshow and preparing their animals for the show.
On July 6 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. will be the weighing and receiving of animals. July 7 from 7-9:30 a.m. will be weighing and receiving. At 10 a.m. exhibitors will meet in the show ring. FFA record book and 4-H portfolio contestants will turn in their books. At 10:30 a.m. Judging contest in the show ring. Participants may form teams of three or four members with three high scores counting or can judge individually or open class.
At noon will be fitting and showmanship contests for market beef. At 1 p.m. will be showmanship contests for market lambs and hogs. At 2:30 p.m. will be round robin showmanship. At 3 p.m. will be the ultrasound carcass contest with swine, steers and lambs. At 3 p.m. breeding beef and breeding sheep will be judged.
On July 8 at 8 a.m. will be the judging of market hogs, 11 a.m. market lambs, 3 p.m. market steers, 5 p.m. rabbit show, 7:30 p.m. ice cream social and awards program in the picnic shelter, at 8:30 p.m. exhibitors dance in the multi-purpose building.
On July 9 from 9-10:15 a.m. will be the stockshow buyers brunch in the multi-purpose room. At 10:30 a.m. will be the auction of the market animals starting with market steers, market hogs and market lambs.
