Baseball seniors were honored at the last home game for Emery. They included Landon Thomas, Josh Eden and Trever Thompson. They are pictured with their parents, Jeff and Brenda Thomas, LeAnne and Scott Eden, and Shayne and Michelle Thompson.

The baseball team traveled to Heber City and opened the tournament with a loss to the host team. Wasatch defeated the Spartans 3-1. Emery scored their only run in the top of the fourth inning to take the early lead but the team was snake bit as they allowed Wasatch to score twice in the fifth inning and another run in the sixth inning to claim the victory. Trevor Thompson had a double for Emery's only extra base hit. The Spartans had five other hits in the game.

Emery then defeated Canyon View 15-3, as the Spartans scored at will in the contest. With the win, Emery earned the right to travel to Ogden and continue playing.

In a Thursday afternoon game played at Fremont High School, Emery lost a heartbreaker to Snow Canyon. The final score was 8-7 in a game that took 12 innings to determine a winner.

After allowing Snow Canyon to score five runs in the first inning, Kyler Edgehouse pitched a great game through the next five innings to keep Snow Canyon in check. Snow Canyon tied the score in the bottom of the seventh inning and then again in the eighth inning as both teams sent a runner home. With Josh Eden pitching for the Spartans, neither team scored in the next three innings before a Snow Canyon batter hit a homerun in the bottom of the 12th to end the game.

Dave Justice, Emery's first baseman, set a state record in the game as he went 7-for-7 from the plate. The previous record was 6-for-6. Justice's seven hits were part of 19 Spartan hits in the game.
