Desertview Federal Credit Union celebrated the Grand Opening of its Ferron branch's new location March 21-23.The branch, originally located in the Dugmore Heating and Appliance building, was moved to 30 West Main Street, Ferron on Feb. 20.
The move was intended to be a statement to the surrounding community.
"We wanted to make a greater commitment to the citizens in the south end of Emery County," said Mike Nelson, Desertview President. "The new building gives the branch a feel of permanence."
The location change was accompanied by the addition of new features including a drive-up window. The branch's hours of operation also changed from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Desertview, Emery County's only locally owned and operated financial institution, opened the Ferron branch in August of 2003 to provide more convenient access to its members.
Board of Directors member Gary Arrington said, "Desertview is an Emery County institution, and we wanted everyone to be able to access its services as easily as possible."

The branch's opening was welcomed by community members who saw Zion's Bank leave Ferron.
"I love it," Desertview teller and Clawson resident Shaunnie Price said. "It's a nice convienience for people at this end of the county."
Desertview was established in 1981 as a community chartered credit union, and was the product of a merger between Castle Valley Federal Credit Union and American Coal Credit Union. Desertview's assets were just over $1 million at the time of the merger. In 2006 assets swelled to nearly $26 million.
In accordance with the credit union philosophy that began nearly 150 years ago in Germany, each Desertview member also owns part of the credit union. Ownership also affords each member a vote that can be cast each year at the credit union's annual meeting.
Beside checking, savings and loans, Desertview's services include: Visa gift cards, youth accounts, notary service, hotel packages, coin counter, certificates, and IRA accounts.
