Ferron Elementary School Library will be holding a Book Fair on the following dates: Dec. 10, 12:30-7 p.m., Dec. 11, 12:30-7 p.m., Dec. 12, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Give the gift of reading this Holiday Season. Also, visit the sixth grade annual Christmas Shop on Dec. 10 -11 from 1-2:30 p.m.

Emery County Senior Citizen Christmas Party

Emery County will host its annual Christmas Party for all seniors in the county on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael in Castle Dale. Free dinner and entertainment provided. Check with your senior center they will provide transportation.

CEU Christmas Pottery Sale

The College of Eastern Utah Christmas Pottery sale will be held Dec. 4-5 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. in the student center, 300 East 500 North, Price.

Orangeville Christmas in the Park Chili/Soup Cookoff

On Dec. 6 in the Orangeville Community Center there will be judging of chili and soup at 4 p.m. Bring one gallon of your soup or chili to be judged and it will be served at the public dinner. Sign up for the cookoff prior to Dec. 5 at city hall. The chili and soup will be served at 5 p.m. At 4 p.m. for the children there will be a craft making a Christmas ornament in the small room at the community center. The dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m. The park lights will be turned on at 6:30 p.m. and the Emery High Choir will sing. There will be a special visitor along with carolers, a fire and hot chocolate in the park.

Castle Dale Daughters of Utah Pioneers Christmas Party

Castle Dale Daughters of Utah Pioneers Christmas party will be held Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. at the senior citizens center. Bring a friend and enjoy a luncheon and a good time.

Painting Fund Raiser

Third Annual Ice Fishing Tournament

Join Scofield State Park staff Dec. 27 for its Third Annual Ice Fishing Tournament. Registration is limited and required by calling (435) 687-2491. The cost is $13 per entrant. Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m. with the tournament beginning at 7 a.m. A prize is awarded for the biggest fish, along with drawings for door prizes, and free hot chocolate and hot dogs for everyone who participates.

BACA Community Christmas

All children must be accompanied by an adult to the BACA Community Christmas event at Kraync Motor Company on 98 South 300 East in Price on Dec. 6 from 1-4 p.m. All children will get a free picture with Santa, a bag of candy and a toy.

The Emery County Sheriff's Office And The Emery County School District

A free seminar presented by the Emery County Sheriff's Office and the Emery County School District will feature Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, United states army (ret.) speaking on preparing for school attacks, preventing school violence, school lock down and critical incident stress on Dec. 15 from 4-8 p.m. in the Emery high school auditorium, 955 North Center, Castle Dale. Lt. Col. Grossman is an internationally recognized scholar, soldier, and expert in the field of human aggression and the roots of violence and crime. His books include the Pulitzer Prize nominated book on killing, as well as on combat, and stop teaching our kids to kill. Training will be conducted on the Emery High School Campus. Huntington City Christmas Celebration

Huntington City's Christmas celebration will be held Dec. 5 at Huntington Elementary. A free dinner will be at 6 p.m. with a program at 7 p.m. Everybody is welcome.

Study Abroad Program Blend Spanish Immersion, Biology and Costa Rica

The Interamerican University Studies Institute is offering a Spanish immersion summer program in Costa Rica, for high school students who are interested in environmental biology. Costa Rica ¡Pura Vida. combines intensive language instruction, individual homestays and field trips to three areas of the country. Students will experience unspoiled national parks, a marine biology sanctuary open only to scientists, a village of 12 families in the midst of the Cloud Forest, and birds, animals and tropical flora beyond compare. The program is open to students ages 15-17 with two years of high school Spanish and a course in biology (by June 2009). Scholarships available. The scholarship application deadline is Dec. 5. The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available Power Wheelchairs to Senior Citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. If the patient's need is for use in the home, call for more information to see if they qualify. Call toll free 1-800-246-6010.

Academic Foundation for International Cultural Exchange is looking for host families in the local area to host a foreign exchange student.
