Community Theatre's Nunsense

Mother Superior Linda Daley hits the ground after becoming a little inebriated.
Sister Robert Anne, Loyette Holdaway does her Pippilongstocking impression.

The Emery County Community Theatre recently presented the musical comedy, Nunsense. The book, music and lyrics were written by Dan Goggin. This hilarious international hit was performed in 1999 by the theatre group, and was so well liked they brought it back for an encore performance in 2009.

The story is about the Little Sisters of Hoboken, a small order of nuns, who are putting on a show to raise money so they can bury the last four of the 52 sisters of their order, who were accidentally poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia Child of God.

They have kept these last four sisters in the freezer, hoping they can earn the money before the New Jersey Board of Health comes for an inspection. Time is running out. Sister Mary Regina, the Mother Superior played by Linda Daley certainly has her hands full trying to keep order. The four other nuns, Sister Mary Hubert played by Tanie Worthen, Sister Mary Leo played by Tricia Erickson, Sister Mary Amnesia played by Natalie Gardner and Sister Robert Anne played by Loyette Holdaway seem to attract chaos at every turn.

"Just what is a Mother to do?" she laments.

The musical was directed by Ann Murdoch who was assisted by Nadene Hinkins-choreographer. The music was played by Sister Mary Harmony also known as Annell Jackson and Sister Mary Melody played by Elizabeth Fillmore.
