In the just completed Carbon-Emery junior high wrestling tournament, the Canyon View Cougars easily defeated the other schools for the championship. The team was coached by Bill Wright with assistance from Rick Bird and Ferd Allred and special assistance from Reed Fehlberg and Danny Curtis.

Canyon View had wrestlers in 13 of the 16 weight classes reach the finals. In 81 lbs., both of the finalists were Cougar wrestlers.

Winning and taking first for the Cougars were Leedan Johnson at 75 lbs., Jax Gardner at 81 lbs., Wyatt Oveson at 87 lbs., Cameron Allred at 111 lbs., Jeremiah Luke at 118 lbs., Tyler Dasch at 165 lbs. and AJ Borba at 175 lbs.

Finishing second for the Cougars were Ridge Nielson at 93 lbs., Davie Bird at 87 lbs., Cole Guymon at 132 lbs., Taylor Weihing at 140 lbs., Ky Jensen at 148 lbs., Dylan Johnson at 155 lbs. and Kendon Huff at hwt.

Taking third place were Chance Thompson at 87 lbs., Paden Wells at 105 lbs., Dominic Rondinelli at 140 lbs., Tyler Maira at 132 lbs., Taven Miller at 124 lbs. and Tanner Lake at 165 lbs.

Finishing fourth were Bailey Faimalo at 99 lbs. and Dillon Wilstead at 111 lbs.

Coach Wright had this to say, "This was a total team effort with all varsity wrestlers taking at least third place. With many JV wrestlers placing second, third or fourth, we were able to pull out the victory."

Coach Wright then added, "I would like to thank the wrestlers for their efforts and their sportsmanship. I believe everyone gave their best effort and did it with class and dignity."

Coach Wright also wanted to thank Principal Jim Jones for giving him the staff to run the tournament properly and for Yory Allred for running the computer for the seeding meeting as well as the tournament.
