Green River Pirates celebrate Homecoming

Coach Parsons and Coach Hughes honored the senior girls at Saturday night's basketball game. Courtney Carter, grandaughter of Dorthy Carter, Tracy Engleman, daughter of Philip and Danna Engleman and Jill Vetere, daughter of Greg and Rita Vetere.

Green River 79 - Monument Valley 49.

Jason Johnson almost singlehandedly beat the Monument Valley Cougars Saturday night with a game high 48 points. Justin Johnson - 17, Diego Mendoza - eight, Kayden Mecham - four, Erick Mendez - one, Tre Burton -one. The Pirates are 7-5, this was their first region game so in region play they are 1-0.

Cady Mecham and Courtney Carter were both in double figures to beat the Monument Valley Cougars 60-40. Cady with 18 and Courtney 13. Megan Hatt had finished with nine, Tracy Engleman -eight, Jill Vetere - five, Melissa Antillon - four and Sarah Swalberg - three. With this win the Lady Pirates are 3-0 in region play and 9-6 all games played.

Green River Pirates faced the Wayne Badgers and came out on top - 69 to 48. Green River scored consistently in all four quarters 17-17-17-18, while Wayne was up and down 12-6-11-19.

Jason Johnson led the Pirates with 28, Justin Johnson hit four 3's for 22, Kayden Mecham - 13, Tre Burton - three, Adrian Escalante - two, and Diego Mendoza - one.

The Pirates will make up the game that was cancelled against Navajo Mountain on Saturday January 30th.
